The Gallagher Brothers

Good things come to those who wait - and it's taken ten years for brothers Rob and Harry Gallagher (it's Galla-HER, by the way) to wend their separate ways around the world and back again to Brisbane Australia, and finally unite as a powerful songwriting and performing duo.

The born and bred Brissie boys, who are the two youngest in family of eight (Rob is the elder by two years) grew up in a musical household under the influences of the pop-rock favourites of their older siblings: Neil Young, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Elvis Costello, the Beatles, the Kinks, and more. Although they both started songwriting, individually, during their high school years, they were separated by geography (travelling interstate and abroad) and independent musical pursuits until recently.

But in a defining moment just two years ago, each already seasoned and broadly versed in their craft, they found joining forces exponentially increased their writing and performing strength. Rob's self-trained style, honed through years of songwriting and playing with local and Sydney bands, shines through in the simplicity of traditional cords and melodies. Harry, who began music lessons at the age of eight and studied vocals and classical guitar, creates intricate guitar riffs with high soaring vocal lines. Together, they have something truly special.

In January 2005 the boys lost their "studio virginity" to Rockinghorse (Byron Bay). Five tunes were offered as guinea pigs and the result is more than encouraging. They reveal a vocal unity only brothers can harness, yet their vibrant sound is clearly created by two individuals who bring their own unique ideas to the table.

The Gallagher Brothers' un-pigeonholable music brings the traditional elements of harmonic and melodic pop with a vocally-charged twist on today's sounds. Their growing collection of impressive songs has the ability to hijack emotions and stand the test of time. They're future classics from a combination of two undeniably pure talents and like a chemical reaction, it's only a matter of time before this smouldering combination of volatile elements explodes into the popular musical consciousness.
